Lyrics - One man army

This song is based on a true story of a battle between the English  and the Vikings in 1066 A.D. where one viking held a bridge against the entire attacking English army which allowed the hugely outnumbered vikings to escape to fight another day (They were eventually defeated in the war though). This is basically a heavy metal documentary on the events of the day.

I open my eyes, to a blood red dawn
with my brothers, in a land unknown
and now the foe, come marching in
I draw my blade, and pray to Odin.

Five to one, horses and feet
I swallow my pride, and begin to retreat
Over a bridge, I turn and roar
my brothers are dead, I can run no more

He turns and stands upon the bridge so none of  them can pass
with threats and taunts and sneers and barbs he begins to harass
They rush him with their arms to finish what he has begun
to find that weapons wouldn't bite upon this lonely one

Their heads and hands and legs and lives he takes to keep as his
the man forgotten long ago a berserker now lives
The day grows old the line grows thin the carnage carries on
a savage god come unto earth upon his grisly throne

lo! there do I see my father
lo! there do I see my mother and my brothers and my sisters
lo! there do I see the line of my people back to the beginning
lo! they call unto me and bid me take my place among them
in Valhalla, where the brave may live forever.

A spear strikes, upon my back
with no honour, cowards attack
my brothers are safe, at our fleet
I smile and join, the gods at their feast.

Lyrics - Freedom

Every night I see, tragedies unfolding
Every day I hear, the calls to do something
These causes with passion and reasons you give
Take them if you want, it's not my fight
My fight is not for my right to live
It's for my chance,my chance to hide

Freedom (oh  won't you save my)
Freedom (who can take it away)
Freedom (will take care of itself)
Freedom (is here to stay)

All the great men, the statues glorify
If not  for me, then tell me why they died
Some one should take up the mantle that fell
from the makers of August the 15
I'll stand on the sidelines and cheer when I can
Heroes these days are too far and between

Freedom (oh  won't you save my)
Freedom (who can take it away)
Freedom (will take care of itself)
Freedom (is here to stay)

If I do all this, who'll get the real work done
and it won't change a thing, because I am only one
There's too much to lose and I don't feel up to it
So stop asking me why don't you go and do it
If history asks I'll deny that I knew it
I kept my head down and eyes closed to get through it

Freedom.....
Freedom.....

The vagaries of unbidden dreams

Strange dreams, wicked dreams.
and the voices in my head
offer every serpernt's fruit
deal every hand of dread

the sights, the sounds, the sickly taste,
and the touch upon my skin
are all the different faces of
the  demons lurking deep within

Some feeble conscious part of me
whispers - "It's not real! It's not real!"
but in that twilight of life,
more real than real it feels.

All that my waking thoughts bury
beneath everlasting shame
runs amok, twisted mirage
the other me then takes the blame

And then I must wake and walk
amongst all my fellow men
and hold my smiles and frowns and laugh
when I think of where I had been

Though hidden meanings seem to lie
in every eye which at me stares
I cannot really help but think
were they with me when I was there.
